May 26, 2015, Evgeny Zhirnel’ (Vice-Director for Science in the Institute of Economics) presented the report ‘Investment attractiveness of Russian regions’ at a meeting of the Presidium of the Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences.

May 22, 2015, Deputy Director for Science of the KarRC RAS Institute of Economics Evgeny Zhirnel attended a meeting of a working group to assist in attracting investments into the economy of the Republic of Karelia, which was held at the Ministry of Economic Development of the RK. The meeting was opened by the Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia Valentin Chmil’. The experts discussed the investment project "Organization of the workpiece and complete processing of wood under Olonets region", "Manufacture of laminated wooden beams in the production area in village Kharlu in Pitkarantsky municipal district" and "Organization of the agro-industrial complex in Sortavala region of Karelia".

May 22, 2015 The personnel of the KarRC RAS Institute of Economics Yuri Savelyev, Oleg Tolstoguzov, Anatoly Shishkin and Arina Guchek took part in the round table of the Karelian branch of the Obsherossijsky Narodniy Front on "Country live while plants operate." The round table was devoted to the development of industry, the development and implementation of regional industrial policy in the Republic of Karelia.

May 22, 2015 The Karelian Research Centre of RAS hosted an international seminar on "Human security and socio-economic development of the northern peripheral areas". Seminar was organized by "Centre for the North, the Arctic and the cross-border cooperation", Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Economics of Karelian Research Centre of RAS and Petrozavodsk State University. The event was held as part of the international summer school "Safety and resources in the Barents Sea" as part of the International Symposium "Calotte Academy."

May 20, 2015 Director of the KarRC RAS Institute of Economics Yuri Saveliev and Scientific secretary of the Institute Lubov’ Kulakova took part in the expanded meeting of the Territorial Department of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Republic of Karelia, which was dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the Karelian statistics.

13-14 May 2015 Head of Department the KarRC RAS Institute of Economics Oleg Tolstoguzov participated in the Second Congress of CIS and Baltic countries "Return of Political Economy", which was held on the basis of the RAS Institute of Economics in Moscow. The congress was attended by more than 350 scientists, educators, experts from 16 countries and 35 regions of Russia.

May 14, 2015 The second meeting of the Organizing Committee on preparation and holding of the 7th Youth Economic Forum was held in in the Council Chamber of the Republic of Karelia and chaired by the Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia on Social Affairs, Valentina Ulich.

May 6, 2015 the KarRC RAS Institute of Economics held a seminar on "Prospects for the development of tourism in the Republic of Karelia." The event was held as part of the State contract for the preparation of applications for inclusion in the federal program "Development of domestic tourism in the Russian Federation (2011 - 2018 years)" project of tourist-recreational cluster in the Republic of Karelia. The first seminar within the project took place April 23, 2015.
