18-19 February 2016 Maria Dyakonova (researcher at the Institute of Economics) took part in the inter-regional conference «VI Kirillo-Novoezerskie chtenia" and presented the research "Cultural Institutions in the preservation and development of ethnic areas in the Republic of Karelia." The conference was held in the city of Belozersk Vologda region on the basis of Belozersky Regional Museum.

The conference on marketing of waterfront cities “CITIES BY THE WATER: IMAGES REAL AND VIRTUAL” was held on February 18 at the Institute of Economics of Karelian Research Centre of RAS. Using an interdisciplinary format of the event a wide range of issues was discussed: city branding, strategic planning, event marketing, design of urban spaces and technologies involve urban communities in the development processes. Particular attention was paid to the branding of small towns.

February 16, 2016, Evgeny Zhirnel’ (Vice-Director for Science in the Institute of Economics of Karelian Research Centre of RAS) participated in the meeting with business representatives, which took place in the framework of the program "You - the entrepreneur" in the Republic of Karelia and was called "Success code".

February 12, 2016 Yuri Saveliev (Director of the Institute of Economics of Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences) took part in the meeting of the Bureau of the Board of the Union of Union of Industrialists and Employers of the Republic of Karelia. The process of creating public and professional accreditation of educational programs of the system (on which Karelian higher educational institutions and secondary vocational educational institutions train specialists for the enterprises of Karelia) was discussed at the meeting.
