The conference on marketing of waterfront cities “CITIES BY THE WATER: IMAGES REAL AND VIRTUAL” was held on February 18 at the Institute of Economics of Karelian Research Centre of RAS. Using an interdisciplinary format of the event a wide range of issues was discussed: city branding, strategic planning, event marketing, design of urban spaces and technologies involve urban communities in the development processes. Particular attention was paid to the branding of small towns.
