September 15, 2015 Egor Michel (researcher in IE KRC RAS) attended a meeting of the Community Advisory Board of the Federal Migration Service of Russia in the Republic of Karelia. Questions of the state program of resettlement of compatriots living abroad in the Republic of Karelia were discussed at the meeting.
At the meeting it was presented and discussed amendments on increasing the effectiveness of the program. Also, a report on the implementation of the program for the first half of 2015 was introduced, the report notes the growth of participants by 240% compared to the first half of 2014. The main factor for the growth of the number of members of the state program was the reception of citizens of Ukraine. The share of Ukrainian citizens among the participants of the program in 2015 reached 84%.
