September 5, 2015, Evgeny Zhirnel’ (Vice-Director for Science in the Institute of Economics of Karelian Research Centre of RAS) moderated the round table "Entrepreneurship as a resource for the development of rural areas", which took place in the village Pryazha (national region of Karelia – Pryazhinsky). The round table was attended by Alexander Brechalov (Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation). The meeting was organized by the Commission for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Support of the Civic Chamber of the Republic of Karelia.
Elena Gnetova (the Commissioner for the Protection of the rights of entrepreneurs in the Republic of Karelia), Sergey Alimpiev (Deputy Economic Development Minister), Oleg Ermolaev (Head of Pryazhenskiy National District Administration) took part in the round table. Roundtable participants (including Lubov Kulakov (scientific secretary of IE KRC RAS) and Arina Guchek (junior researcher)) discussed the effectiveness of existing forms of state support for small and medium-sized businesses. Entrepreneurs asked questions and talked about the most acute problems.

The most urgent topic of discussion were the problems in the sphere of land relations of rural entrepreneurs.

Also, the actual problem is the interaction of business and government to co-decision. Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia spoke about the necessity of feedback from entrepreneurs.

Following the meeting, Alexander Brechalov took personal control of several problematic situations.
