Expert Council members and invited participants discussed the current situation in the regional economy, the anti-crisis activities of the Government of the Republic of Karelia and the possible development projects.
Director of the Institute of Economics of Karelian Research Centre of RAS Yuri Saveliev has presented the report "On the anti-crisis activities and mechanisms to modernize the economy of the Republic of Karelia". The report included thesis about the possible stages of anti-crisis activities and structural policies and presented the directions for industrial policy, which can be implemented in the region.
Deputy Director for Science of KarRC RAS Institute of Economics Evgeny Zhirnel continued the theme of the performance of a report on "investment and business climate in the Republic of Karelia", which reflected the necessary activities to increase the investment attractiveness of the republic and enhancing the entrepreneurial potential of the region.
The prospects of development of the natural resources sector, energy, timber industry, agriculture and tourism were also discussed during the meeting. The proposals of the Expert Council will be sent to the Ministry of Economic Development and the Government of the Republic of Karelia.
