During the meeting in Helsinki on 13th December 2017, the Joint Monitoring Committee of Karelia CBC Programme 2014–2020 has approved nine business and eleven environment applications to be financed by the Programme.

Project "Kalitka – the development of cross-border gastronomic tourism" (KA4007) prepared by Institute of Economics of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences is in the list: The project is aimed at development cross-border gastronomic tourism for social and economic benefit of the territory by linking cross-border enterprises on the basis of cultural heritage in the national cuisine.
Institute of Economics of the KarRC of RAS stands as a partner in two other projects "Cross Border Business Opportunities Creation Empowered by Modern IT and IoT Technologies" (Institute of Applied Mathematical Research of the KarRC of RAS) and "WasteLess Karelias" (University of Eastern Finland).

Besides, researchers from the Institute will take part in the microproject "Ethno-cultural potential in tourist industry of border territories" led by "The Mill" foundation of Pryazha district.

The contracting negotiations with the selected applicants will be launched in January 2018. However, the contracts can't be signed before the Russian Duma has ratified the Financing Agreement between the European Commission and the Russian Federation
